Welcome to the Naked Pioneer

Welcome to the online home of the Naked Pioneer, an ultra-endurance, unsupported, fossil fuel free bicycle race.

The Naked Pioneer tests riders with 2,820 kilometers of racing over 39,116 meters (nearly 128,000 ft.) of climbing while winding its way through the most stunning snow-capped mountains, rich green rain forests, world heritage sites, national parks and wildlife protected areas that Canada has to offer. It is spectacular journey that never stops challenging and rewarding riders

The race which starts and finishes in White Rock, British Columbia is rich with natural beauty and incredibly demanding. Along the way riders will experience the ever evolving landscapes of the Canadian Rockies, the lakes and orchards of the Okanagan Valley, World Heritage Sites, National Parks, glaciers and rain forest. Populating the course is over 450 different animal species that includes high-alpine mountain goats, bears, bison, eagles, deer and moose.

Competition is open to soloists and teams with 2 or 4 riders who are over the age of 19 with the physical ability and bicycle handling skills required.

Riders are timed from the start line to the finish line and are awarded one of three levels of accomplishment, Elite, Competitor or Official Finisher which is based on completion times. To be awarded Elite Recognition a soloist must complete the Naked Pioneer in less than 210 hours while an Official Finisher has 336 hours.

To participate, each rider must provide and organize their own escort crew who enhances team safety and enable riders to concentrate on the cycling.
